Friends of Henrietta:

When you first enter Rabbits' Rest Sanctuary, one of it's most colorful denizens you'll meet is a sassy redhead named Henrietta. For the past five years it's been Henrietta's job to watch over the 150 plus permanent residents of the sanctuary, and she takes her job very, very seriously. With her peacock assistants Chang and Mr. P, she patrols daily the 500 square feet enclosure, making sure all are safe and all is well. Occasional -- if she's in the mood, mind you -- she'll lay an egg or two.

Like many of the furred and feathered residents of Rabbits' Rest Sanctuary, Henrietta came to stay because no one wanted her and there was no other place for her to go, except maybe ending up stuffed in someone's dinner pot. But luck was on Henrietta's side. Some Good Samaritans helped her find her way to the sanctuary, to her new home, a home where she will always be fed, always be safe, and always -- always -- be loved. That's what we do here at Wild Rescue, Inc. and Rabbits' Rest, offer shelter and care and love to any animal, wild or domestic, that finds itself in need of a permanent or temporary home.

This work we do is oftentimes challenging and heartbreaking, but it's work we must do nonetheless. Whether it's taking in a nest full of abandoned, eastern cottontail babies that need feeding every two hours round the clock or helping someone through a medical crisis with a beloved family bunny companion, we approach this work with dedication and the sense of a genuine call to duty.

If you should feel inspired to help us with these good works, there are many ways you can make a difference, like volunteering your time, donating funds, or by donating supplies. Henrietta, her friends in the Sanctuary, and the 100s of Texas wildlife that come through our doors each year would greatly appreciate it.

Donate Funds
The cost of caring for the permanent resident's of Rabbits' Rest Sanctuary and our wild friends who stay with us during their rehabilitation is daunting. Feed, veterinary visits, spaying & neutering, new housing, medical supplies -- unfortunately the work we do at Wild Rescue is not inexpensive. We have been blessed with financial support from fellow animal lovers who understand the importance of what we do, but the need continues to be great. To donate by mail, you may send a check or money order to:

Diana Leggett, Wild Rescue, Inc.
1916 Keystone Drive

You can also donate via PayPal with a credit card or electronic checking transfer.

All donations are tax deductible and all money goes directly to the feeding, housing and medical needs of the rabbits and other wildlife that come into our care.

Volunteer Your Time
We always need people to help us:

Donate ebay/Garage Sale Items
Do you have a garage or house full of stuff that is still in good condition but you longer want? Thinking about how you really could use the extra space but don’t relish the idea of having a garage sale? Give us a call and we’ll come out and take away your extra household items for auction on ebay and our monthly Bunny Love Garage Sale Benefit! Contact us to let us know what you have and to set up a pick-up time.

Donate Supplies
You really don‘t want to know just how many wash cloths a small army of baby cottontails can go through each season. Trust us. It’s a lot. And the domestic rabbits in the sanctuary can chow down on enough fresh produce to stock a full sized salad bar. Every day. We are in constant need of fresh supplies to feed, house, and care for the multitude of animals that make their way to us each year. We always welcome the contribution of the following items:

- Wash clothes and towels
- Detergent - Cheer Free is the best
- Rabbit food - pellets and fresh, leafy green produce
- Newspapers
- Cat litter - non-clay, all natural with no dyes, chemicals or perfumes
- Plastic or metal animal carriers or caging
- Building materials such as wood framing and metal fencing to enlarge our enclosures
- Veterinary services
- Mechanical services

Deliberate cruelty to our defenseless and beautiful little cousins is surely one of the meanest and most detestable vices of which a human can be guilty. - William Ralph Inge
